Benin’s Construction Boom Drives Surging Demand for High-Tensile Wire Rod

Benin's government has accelerated investment in housing, road infrastructure, and public facilities in recent years. As construction activity grows, wire rod has become an essential raw material for rebar tying, welded mesh production, and various steel accessories. However, poor tensile stability and frequent breakage from low-grade wire rod previously hindered efficiency on many job sites.

To address these challenges, the latest shipment included wire rod in 5.5 mm, 6 mm, and 8 mm diameters, each batch tested for uniform tensile strength and surface quality. The material demonstrated excellent performance during drawing, straightening, and welding.

Local mesh producers reported significant improvements:

• Strong, consistent welding points during mesh fabrication

• Higher dimensional accuracy and smoother product surfaces

Construction workers also noted faster tying speeds and fewer defects caused by inconsistent wire strength. The upgraded material is helping local factories enhance production capacity and strengthen their competitiveness in the West African market.
